What is “Lifestyle Medicine?”
Lifestyle Medicine is a philosophy that recognizes the impact that day to day life has on our health. Everything that we do, the food we eat, the air we breathe, the jobs we perform, impact health dramatically. Our focus is to identify the precursors to disease and to treat and optimize these precursors before they worsen. A heavy emphasis is placed on nutrition, environmental exposure, sleep and stress reduction.
How Much do Services Cost?
Services vary based on your individual needs. Keep in mind that an appointment with Thrive is very thorough and will often last 60 minutes or more. We are interested in the root cause of your concerns, not in the quick fixes! Please contact us so we may discuss your needs and better understand the cost of services.
Will I Have to Pay for Expensive Tests?
We aim to keep your costs low by utilizing conventional labs already ordered by your primary care provider or that are often covered by your insurance. Occasionally, recommendations will be made for specialized testing that may require an out of pocket expense. We aim to be transparent and will discuss those costs prior to ordering any diagnostics. You are never under any obligation to undergo testing.
Do You Accept Insurance?
I want you to get the care you need. I want you to have an experience in which you feel like you have really been heard. One of the biggest barriers to adequate care are insurance companies. Often, the insurance company dictates what can be ordered, how often you can receive a therapy, and what treatments are deemed “necessary.” Insurance companies are businesses and their job is to make money, NOT to keep you well. As such, we do not bill insurance as we believe that we can provide better services by ordering what you need, not what the insurance company wants.
Often, patients use a Health Savings Account (HSA) for services. We will provide you with an itemized coding bill that can be submitted to your insurance plan for potential reimbursement.
Can I List you as my Primary Care Provider (PCP)?
Healthcare is a team sport and we act as another member of this team (and often a cheerleader!) We do not act as a primary care provider or clinic and we require that you maintain a PCP to order important screening tests such as colonoscopies and mammograms as well as to facilitate any referrals to specialists or for hospitalization. We are always happy to communicate with your PCP of any findings or recommendations per your request!
